A sweet smile

We are so happy to see this sweet smile. It comes more often these days as Adeline has been awake and alert a few times a day. The first 6 weeks there was more of this :
We thought she showed signs of colic. After eliminating dairy and gassy veggies from my diet, giving her infant gas drops , and a few visits to the chiropractor has helped her out tremendously. She is not as fussy as before and we now have sweet moments together. She even is a bit easier to cam down when crying. I know she has trouble still with gas , I am trying everything I can to help her. it has been a tough road for us , but I know it will get better and I cherish the smiles - every last one of them.

Gardening and sliding

Ahhh the garden! I did not think that we would have this year, what with me not be able to do much with my sweet baby on me 2o hours a day. My wonderful husband, stepped in and got the garden ready. It started simple, with him and Ryan looking for worms then he began wedding and getting the soil ready. Hurray, I am very excited to have a garden this year.

The finished garden! We went today to the local flower stand for the vegetable plants, plus a few seeds. We have :
2 kinds of lettuce
celery
basil
red peppers
beans
carrots
spinach
tomatoes

plus we planted some sunflowers and morning glories. Happy growing !



For the holiday yesterday we had our neighbor down the road over for a simple bbq. It was nice to sit and chat with them and she brought the best salad - yumm.

The slip n slide was a big hit, plus they played an exciting game of baseball in the backyard.
finally a picture of my 14 year old.! I have to wait till he is distracted in order to get a picture of him. I am glad to see that he still enjoys a $5.oo slip and slip!

swimming

Well Sage did the right thing and went to school. So it was just us who went to the pond where we met up with our good friend Kim and her family for some fishing and swimming. The fishing was fun and the kids had a great time playing in the pond.
I am so happy that our friends live near by and can met up with us at the park. Adeline is not a good traveler , so for now we have to stay close to home. Since she is fussy most times it is good to go somewhere that has swings. Then I can put her in the ergo and swing until she falls asleep. This works most of the time.

I don't usually post pics of me, but I look pretty happy in this one - I am not very photogenic I always seem to loose my smile when the picture is snapped.

fishing

Yesterday we decided to head over to the local pond to go fishing. Well actually Ryan decided. In his Monday Earth skills class they learned how to fish and caught a pumpkin seed fish. He was so excited by all this, esp. since his Grandpa takes his older brother fishing when ever we visit him.
So, still having visions of fishing in his head, he planned our whole day for us. I went for a walk in the morning with Adeline and when I came home he was busy painting he old "airplane" he made. I love when he takes the intiative to do things. Thinking for himself is the way I am raising him! He then told me the plan for the day and was so excited to go fishing. He even told me not to pack him a sandwich because he was going to catch his lunch. He had visions of catching a fish, skinning, and cooking it right there at the pond!! Thank goodness I brought him a sandwich anyway! Nothing was caught, but it was a beautiful afternoon.

Today many worms were dug up so that we can go fishing again tomorrow . I think Sage is playing hookey from school tomorrow to go with us - shhhhh!

Watercolor Painting

Ryan and I worked on some watercolor paintings the other day. The last time we painted I was still pregnant with Adeline and desperately waiting for her to be born (she was 10 days late).
With our little sweetie here, we have not had much time for such things until now. We are slowly starting to get back into our rhythm of lessons which started with simple watercolor paintings.

As usual I made up a story as I went along. This one started us off painting a bright sun in the sky that sent it's rays down to earth. The brightness and the warmth woke the blue raindrop fairy who came to play. As they played she noticed something magical happening - grass began to grow all around her. Then she danced in the sky, careful not to touch the sun. Soon little stems began to grow and the red fairy came out and kissed each one. It was Ryan's idea to add the tree - which i love!
