A New Sweet Puppy

Meet Dodger! A Lab/Retriever 5 1/2 month old mix we adopted from the Humane Society. So far he is awesome. He is mellow yet playful at times and good with the kids and Heidi!

We love him.!

Seeing Good Friends

When we found out that our good friends the Cosar's over at Frog Creek were coming down south and were only going to be 3 hours away from us - we just had to join in on the fun and drive up to see them!

They were staying in Hilton Head so we met them up there for a few days. Most of our time was spent at their resort swimming in the pools and playing in the ocean.

The first night we went out to a secluded little place to grab a bite to eat. It was mainly a place to go to get drinks so the kids got smoothies :

Garden update

A couple weeks ago we bought a few flowers and planted them in the back of the yard ! Now when I sit out back I can see the pretty flowers as long as the severe sun does not kill them first. They must be watered every two hours or they wilt. I am planning on building an arbor out there so maybe that will help give them some much needed shade! Pretty though -

I tried to take a pic of a Cardinal that had landed on the bird feeder but he moved to the back just as I was snapping the picture - I only got his tail. Notice the smoky look in the picture? Well that is the smoke that is everywhere here from some forest fire - yuck it is seriously messing with my allergies between the smoke and high pollen count , I am a mess!

These 2 beds in the north part of the yard are growing very slowly. They only get a few hours of sun. Miscalculation on my part so in the fall we are moving them to be by the other 2 beds.
but alas what do we have here - a little flower growing on a tomatoe plant - maybe there is hope yet for these guys.
Now this side of the garden has done well. I think the snap peas are done with though. It is getting too hot for them. The zuchinni are rotting at the base because I did not stake them soon enough : (
These guys are doing well the cucumbers are growing and we had a nice little harvest of pole beans
not bad huh?
On a side note - I made that cute little basket. My neighbor taught me how and i love it.

Blueberries!!!!!

So our co-op classes were canceled so a few of us decided to go blueberry picking to a farm that uses natural pesticides but is not an official organic farm. It was a lot of fun and they had so many plump juicy blueberries.!!

Ryan was my main man for picking the blueberries and maybe you can tell the way little miss Adeline picks ...

Seeing that we are in Florida and it is summer here -which means 90 degree weather - we headed out to the beach to work on our lessons and write about our blueberry trip. For Ryan it was about the math. Then after that we jumped into the pool for a much needed cooling off!!

Saturday fun with a little learning thrown in ....

The other day I read about this little environmental fair about an hour away near Marineland. So I thought it would be a fun day to explore the fair, bring our suits and hit the beach. Esp. since now that it is so darn hot down here and our family melts in the heat quickly we must find water soon after being outdoors. You don't want to see what happens to us with nowhere to cool off - remember that movie the Gremlins how cute they were till .... hee hee anyway....

Then called it a day and headed down the road to the Matanzas inlet. A perfect place to swim and oh so pretty

out in the middle was a sand bar that the boys wadded out to.
Adeline had a great time hanging by the shore running and jumping into the water. Silly mommy forgot her bathing suit, but thankfully she is still little enough to swim in her shorts.

We spent the rest of the afternoon there and then headed home stopping at this little BBQ spot the boys noticed on our way down. It is so small - it is take out only. I am not a fan of bbq and I am trying to eat meat once a week , but I was hungry , we had a long drive home and it smelled yummy so I ate. No meat till next Sat!!
